Getting Around
Montalcino & Val d’Orcia
By car
Getting around Tuscany you will notice a continually amazing landscape. At the same time if you are not ready for it, getting around can prove to be quite challenging. This is because public transportation outside big urban centers is often inadequate.
We highly recommend coming to Tuscany in your own vehicle, in a rental car, or even better with a private driver so you can fully enjoy the scenery without the distraction of having to drive.
By Vespa
In spring and summer, a Vespa is the most enjoyable, manageable and versatile way to get around. On a Vespa, the historic Italian scooter, you can easily get to isolated destinations even those off the beaten path.
Ride the Dirt Roads
The Val d’Orcia has a thick network of dirt roads that wind through the countryside for over a thousand kilometres. They are called white roads, strade bianche, in Italian because of their light colour due to the type of gravel used to pound the roadbed down and in contrast to the black of the asphalt-paved roads.
Dirt roads are a true paradise for exploring on foot, by horse, by motorcycle or by ATVs. Most of these dirt roads are in good condition and therefore suitable for any type of vehicle.
