![]() ![]() Wine TastingThe Brunello Experience: through the three dimensions of tasteThe experience of wine and of the terroir expands over three dimensions: space, time and the uniqueness of each person. We envision the experience of wine tasting as a journey that sweeps across the territory horizontally among the various producers, vertically among the various vintages in one or more cellars and finally in the uniqueness of the individual as the third dimension of tasting. This includes the taster’s own background and feelings as factors that always influence the sensations and emotions that the wine unexpectedly creates. Horizontal Journey Across the TerritoryTasting different Brunellos of the same vintage at different cellars located on different sides of Montalcino is fundamental to understanding the diversity in each microclimate in the area. However, we propose a selection of wines produced on estates in close proximity to one another to better understand how different winemakers may interpret the grapes and the terroir in creative and original ways. Vertical Journey in TimeA dry season or a winter that is rainy or too cold may indelibly influence Brunello. For this reason every vintage is different from others in Montalcino . For this reason, it is important to taste various vintages made by a sole producer vertically in time in order to understand the personal evolution of the winemaker-artist and of his/her wines and to learn about the history of Brunello di Montalcino. The vertical tasting can also be done in parallel to confront the different interpretations by the winemaker including the style, character and technique for each vintage. The Unique Dimension of Personal TasteWine is pleasure and pleasure involves the subjectivity of each individual. The third dimension of the experience that we propose goes beyond the classic two-dimensional idea of tasting as we believe that a series of personal factors such as personal history, taste and emotions come into play when judging a wine beyond standard analytical parameters. This is why a technically perfect Brunello may not make an impression whereas a wine with some sort of flaw might stir up soothing and incredible emotions that make you fall in love with it. We believe that this is the real magic of wine and of our experience with it: an experience that intensifies the sensory space creating a palpable three-dimensional quality of pleasure and knowledge that goes beyond the realm of a mere consumerist-tourist experience of wine to become a journey in the deep in the sense of the territory and deep connection.
