tuscany south region

In the hearth of Tuscany South

We are in the Val d’Orcia in the province of Siena, a strip of privileged land in Tuscany South framed by Montalcino to the northwest, the massive Monte Amiata to the south and the hills that take you from Pienza to Radicofani passing through the villages of Monticchiello and skirting along the territory of Montalcino to the east. The municipalities of Castiglion d’Orcia and San Quirico d’Orcia are the heart of this untouched and wild valley.

…a lifestyle

In the collective world imagination, Tuscany and the Val d’Orcia are synonyms of paradise where life still flows to the rhythms of the seasons. The territory is characterized by the sweet hills of clay and tufa dotted by cypress trees, olive groves, vineyards, hamlets and castles forming a one-of-a-kind landscape: an icon that now identifies a region, a culture, a lifestyle. With time and by word of mouth, the myth has grown and has become stronger.

…a dreamland

The feminine sweetness of Tuscan hills, the beauty of olive trees cultivated with grace, the well-kept vineyards, the proud verticality of cypress trees and the face of the people etched by the work in the fields: here terroir is not only a word, but a reality that has been lived every day for decades in the reciprocal exchange between land, nature, the mild climate and the cultural contribution of man.

…a work of art

Looking south from Siena, everything changes at a certain point. It is indisputable: this place is one of its kind worldwide. From one moment to the next you are in the midst of a work of art. And the further you go along the back roads, the greater this sensation becomes. It is the uninterrupted continual line of beauty that makes a difference.

Expanses of uninterrupted untouched landscapes generate that energy which vibrates to the core, like a fever that wakes you. One single violent detail would interrupt the biochemical flow of communication between us human beings and the stones, the plants, the animals. It is brutal physical consciousness without mediation. It immediately soothes the body, the mind; slowly it cleanses, clears up and, with time, changes deep down and heals.
