The authentic land of Super Tuscan wines where you can meet producers with a new philosophy

As in the poetry by the celebrated Italian author Giosuè Carducci, we will drive through the famous road lined with cypress trees that leads from San Guido, nowadays known worldwide as the home of Sassicaia, up to the village of Bolgheri.

On this luxurious tour, we visit 2 really interesting wineries along the Tuscan coast, the birthplace of Super Tuscans, and have lunch in the small village of Bolgheri where you have the chance to taste the local cuisine, a blend of seaside and countryside styles.

If you want to taste the non-Sangiovese Tuscan wines, this is the right place: famous for Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz and Petit Verdot among the reds in addition to Vermentino and Viognier among the whites.

We start in the morning around 9 am. Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in a luxury and very comfortable Mercedes Benz vehicle. On board, free water and wi-fi internet connection will always be available.

The road that leads to Bolgheri is charming. It is the land that lies between the sea and the hills where you can smell the Mediterranean scents from the coast and admire gorgeous landscapes from the top of the hills mantled by forest. And in the middle, there is this strip of magical terroir made of stones, clay, and sand cultivated with vines, olive trees, cypress and pine trees. On the way to the first vineyard, your guide introduces you to the territory, its history, and its winemaking tradition.

At the winery, you have a private tour where you meet the owner or one of the staff, a wine expert who will guide you through the estate: vineyards, facilities, and aging cellar. At the end of the tour, we have our own reserved area for the tasting, usually with a view.

Here you taste 3-5 wines (it depends also on the size of the estate) guided by the owner or by an expert, such as a sommelier, who will tell you the story of these wines, their characteristics, and best pairings. If necessary, your guide also provides a brief introduction to the correct way to taste wines as well as an explanation of how the Italian system of wine denominations works.

After the tour at the first winery, we stop in Bolgheri with free time to stroll along the narrow cobbled lanes of this typical Tuscan hamlet. Here,  you could take some nice pictures, and enjoy a glass of wine. A table for lunch is reserved for you at one of the Osterias or Trattorias in Bolgheri where you will get a taste of their typical local cuisine like appetizers, pappardelle pasta, and wild boar.

In the afternoon, we visit another great winery, and we also have the possibility to try the local white wine, Vermentino, which is really very popular. If we have time, we could stop at the top of the hill of Castagneto Carducci for a great picture of the coast. From this spot, the island of Elba and some other islands of the Tuscan archipelago can be seen on a clear day.

During the day, you have the possibility to buy wine directly at the estates at the most reasonable price. We also provide a service to ship the bottles directly to your home. We will take care of your wine by storing it in a refrigerated depository until you get back at home to receive it.

At the end of the day, we will transfer you back to your accommodation around 6 pm.
