“Pane, salame e un bicchiere di buon vino”: let’s discover the food treasures that make Tuscany famous worldwide!

If you love Tuscan food, this tour is perfect for you. In Montalcino, we produce great Pecorino and Caprino cheese, extra virgin olive oil, saffron, honey, pasta, and salami. Here is the chance to visit some of the producers and see how they work from field to table.

From the olive mill to the apiary, going from a wine cellar and the dairy farm to the garden of the saffron flowers and laboratory. An intensive day immersed in the best food products of Montalcino and surroundings. Be prepared (and not scared) to eat as an Italian!

The private Montalcino Food Tour starts in the morning around 10 am. Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in a luxury and very comfortable Mercedes Benz vehicle. On board, free water and wi-fi internet connection will always be available.

During the transfer to the olive mill as our first stop, your guide will introduce you to the territory, its history, and its food traditions.

At the artisanal mill, you will have a private tour where you will meet the owner or an expert who will guide you through the estate showing the different stages of extra virgin olive oil production in Tuscany. At the end of the tour, we will have our own reserved area for the comparative tasting of several different kinds of olive oil produced here as well as some others from the industry to understand the differences.

Our second stop will be at an apiary to experience the magical world of bees. Here, we also have the chance to admire the endless work of bees through the transparent walls of a special beehive. Our guide will be the owner who will also let us taste different types of honey made from different flowers and trees. Inside his laboratory, we will see all the tools and equipment used to process the honey from the comb to the jar.

A foodie day in Montalcino is not complete without sipping on a glass or two of its world renowned nectar of Bacchus! Right beside the apiary, we tour a Brunello winery from the vineyards to the aging room passing through the fermentation area to the barrel room.

The owner will teach us all about the production protocol and finally we will taste some of his best wines. If necessary, your guide will also provide a brief introduction to the correct way to taste wines as well as an explanation of how the Italian system of denominations works.

Lunch will be an important part of our Montalcino Food Tour because at the small farm with a view of the valley where we stop at midday, we will taste other local delicacies this time focusing on salami paired with vegetable compotes, fresh pasta, and dessert.

In the afternoon, we will tour another very interesting farm: a dairy run by a family who produces Caprino and Pecorino, traditional goat milk and sheep milk cheeses in Tuscany. We must stop at the stables to see the cute sheep with their lambs before heading to the milking parlor, the dairy, the cellar where the cheese ages, and the tasting balcony over the valley where we will finally taste this rich selection of cheese with the owners.

Later in the afternoon if you still have energy, we complete this Montalcino Food Tour with a brief visit to a saffron producer who will reveal all the secrets behind the production of this precious spice that enriches many famous Italian dishes such as risotto and trippa.

During the day, you will have the possibility to buy the food products directly at the estates at the most reasonable price. We also provide a service to ship them directly to your home.

At the end of the day, we will drive you back to your accommodation around 5 pm.
