We will start the Truffle Hunting & Cooking Class around 10 o’clock in the morning, but this depends on the season. We could possibly ask you to start earlier in order to avoid the warm temperatures of the summer. Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in a luxury and very comfortable Mercedes Benz vehicle. On board, you will always have access to free water and wi-fi internet connection.
During the transfer to the forest, your guide will introduce you to the territory, its history and its traditions. After a 15-minute drive, you will join the chef in his kitchen for a cooking class where all dishes will be prepared using fresh truffles.
You will make fresh tagliolini pasta and learn the best sauce for that truffle, an appetizer, a main course, and tiramisù.
After lunch you will meet up with your expert truffle hunter and his dogs: the wonderful animals that make truffle hunting possible. They are a special breed called Lagotto Romagnolo – a loyal, keen, and sociable dog with an excellent nose which makes this breed very efficient in hunting for truffles.
The type of truffle for the hunt changes according to the season:
White Truffle –> September – December
Spring “Marzuolo” Truffle –> February – April
Summer “Scorzone” Truffle –> June – August
The hunt usually lasts between 1 to 2 hours depending on the weather, the luck of the hunt, and how interested you are in walking.
At the end of the tour, we will transfer you back to your accommodation around 5 pm.
