Truffle Hunting & Cooking Class: find truffles in the forest and learn how to use them in the kitchen!
Experience hunting for truffles on a beautiful Tuscan day under the guidance of an expert truffle hunter and his dog. You will take quiet forest paths to secret places where truffles grow and, if you are lucky enough, you will dig out this delicious gem of nature right from the soil.
Your guide will explain all the secrets of Tuscan truffles including their characteristics, properties, and differences. For lunch, we will cook these tasty treasures together in a local restaurant led by the chef who will explain how to store and use truffles in the kitchen.
We will start the Truffle Hunting & Cooking Class around 10 o’clock in the morning, but this depends on the season. We could possibly ask you to start earlier in order to avoid the warm temperatures of the summer. Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in a luxury and very comfortable Mercedes Benz vehicle. On board, you will always have access to free water and wi-fi internet connection.
During the transfer to the forest, your guide will introduce you to the territory, its history and its traditions. After a 15-minute drive, you will join the chef in his kitchen for a cooking class where all dishes will be prepared using fresh truffles.
You will make fresh tagliolini pasta and learn the best sauce for that truffle, an appetizer, a main course, and tiramisù.
After lunch you will meet up with your expert truffle hunter and his dogs: the wonderful animals that make truffle hunting possible. They are a special breed called Lagotto Romagnolo – a loyal, keen, and sociable dog with an excellent nose which makes this breed very efficient in hunting for truffles.
The type of truffle for the hunt changes according to the season:
White Truffle –> September – December
Spring “Marzuolo” Truffle –> February – April
Summer “Scorzone” Truffle –> June – August
The hunt usually lasts between 1 to 2 hours depending on the weather, the luck of the hunt, and how interested you are in walking.
At the end of the tour, we will transfer you back to your accommodation around 5 pm.

Is this trekking too hard for me?
This is a very easy walk for everyone. We will stop many times to explain everything about the area and the truffles, so it is really considered more of a stroll rather than serious trekking.
Are kids admitted on this tour?
Yes, we love kids in Italy, and they are always welcome. Be sure your kids can walk for 1 or 2 hours or be prepared to carry them on your shoulders 🙂 Let us know if you need a booster seat or if you have one with you.
Can you pick us up in Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena, Firenze, San Gimignano, Chianti, etc.?
Yes, of course. Before booking, we will provide you with a price quote for this extra service.
