Truffle Hunting in Tuscany! On foot along the forests of Montalcino led by experts searching for the king of the table: its majesty the truffle. Let’s go!

Experience hunting for truffles on a beautiful Tuscan morning under the guidance of an expert truffle hunter and his dog. You will take quiet forest paths to secret places where truffles grow and, if you are lucky enough, you will dig out this delicious gem of nature right  from the soil.

For lunch we celebrate the treasures we have found with a glorious 4-course menu based on truffle by the “osteria” headquarters of the local truffle hunters. In the afternoon we head to a local Brunello winery to visit the vineyards, cellar, aging room and taste delicious wines in company of the winemaker.

We will start around 10 o’clock in the morning for our Truffle Hunting & Brunello Wine Tour, but this depends on the season. We could possibly ask you to start earlier in order to avoid the warm temperatures of the summer. Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up directly at your accommodation in a luxury and very comfortable Mercedes Benz vehicle. On board, you will always have access to free water and wi-fi internet connection.

During the transfer to the forest, your guide will introduce you to the territory, its history, and its traditions. After a 15-minute drive, you will meet up with your expert truffle hunter and his dogs: the wonderful animals that make truffle hunting possible. They are a special breed called Lagotto Romagnolo –  a loyal, keen, and sociable dog with an excellent nose which makes this breed very efficient in hunting for truffles.

The type of truffle for the hunt changes according to the season:

White Truffle –> September – December

Spring “Marzuolo” Truffle –> February – April

Summer “Scorzone” Truffle –> June – August

The hunt usually lasts between 1 to 2 hours depending on the weather, the luck of the hunt, and how interested you are in walking. At the end of the “cerca”, the truffle hunt, you will enjoy a tasty meal at a traditional restaurant where all dishes will be prepared with fresh truffles.

In the afternoon, we will visit a winery of Brunello where you will have a private tour and meet the owner or one of the staff – wine experts who will guide you through the property including the vineyards as well as the vinification and aging cellars. After the tour, we will have our own reserved area for the tasting, usually with a view.

Here you will taste 3-5 wines guided by the owner or by an expert professional like a sommelier who will tell the story of these wines, their characteristics, and the best pairings.

At the end of the day, we will transfer you back to your accommodation around 5 pm.
